MARY YOUNG,NEWCASTLE 1850

Listed Maker 1848-56

A flame mahogany, Newcastle longcase clock with 8-day movement, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials striking the hours on a bell. The painted arched dial gilded with floral sprays in the arch and corner spandrels. The arched hood with pierced fret surmount and pointed finials with turned columns either side of the hood door.Matching shaped columns to the trunk and base which has a central recessed cross-banded oval panel. The trunk door,also cross-banded has small inset mahogany panels above and below the door. The 8 day movement has been cleaned, polished and overhauled and is in good working order.
