CIRCA 1800

An attractive George 111, Lancashire, well figured mahogany case with boxwood stringing, moonphase and 8-day movement,striking the hours on a bell.

The moon dial has an alternating rural landscape and galleon seascape, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials, well painted fruits and flowers in the corner spandrels  and birds  in the center.

The arched hood has swan neck pediments and brass finials. The long shaped  trunk door with finial is edged with boxwood and there is also boxwood detail on the sides of the trunk and the pillars. The well proportioned clock case standing on ogee bracket feet.

The good quality 8-day movement has been cleaned and overhauled and  is in good working order.
