Maker A superb George111 flame mahogany longcase clock, with moonphase and 8-day movement, striking the hours on a bell. The 14 inch arched enamelled dial with subsidiary seconds and calendar dials. The painted Wilson dial shows the faces of the moon alternating with a galleon seascape and a lady in a rural landscape. The corners of the dial have attractive paintings of flowers.The hood has swan neck pediments and brass finial with fluted Corinthian columns. The good quality figured mahogany case is of excellent colour with satinwood chequer banding to the top and sides of the trunk and to the canted corners of the base.The shaped long trunk door is flanked by reeded pillars and has book matched flame mahogany veneers with ebony stringing.The base has similar flame mahogany veneers and in addition oval boxwood detail. The clock stands on small bracket feet. The good quality 8-day movement has been cleaned and overhauled and is in good working order with working calendar and moon dials.
