MAKER-THOMAS OSMOND,TISBURY 

CIRCA 1835.

Listed Maker 1833-1842

A good Wiltshire figured mahogany longcase clock with 8-day movement, striking the hours on a bell.

The arched enamelled dial has subsidiary seconds and calendar dials.The dial maker`s name stamped on the dial plate is Wilkes,Birmingham who was working between 1829-1851. The dial with gilded roses to the corners and an attractive steeplechase scene with three horses with their jockeys to the arch The hood has swan neck pediments with brass capped slim turned columns either side of the trunk door. The slim  case of good colour with figured veneers,chamfered sides to the trunk, boxwood stringing throughout and fan mouldings above the trunk door.The 8-day movement has been cleaned and overhauled and is in good working order.
