ROBERT LAW, DUMFRIES,CIRCA 1830

A good Scottish dark Oak longcase clock with 8-day movement, subsidiary seconds and calendar dials striking the hours on a bell. The attractively painted arched dial has a harvest scene in which a farmer is leading his two horses pulling a cart full of straw back to the farm and paintings of rural scenes with windmills and cottages by a stream in the corner spandrels. The hood has reeded columns and swan neck pediments surmounted by a brass finial. The oak case has a shaped trunk door with panelled base, reeded canted corners to the trunk and raised on bun feet. The 8 day movement has been cleaned, overhauled, and polished and is in good working order.
