HELENS CIRCA 1810 An attractive Lancashire, figured mahogany case of good colour with double line boxwood stringing inlays,long shaped trunk door, moonphase and 8-day movement,striking the hours on a bell. The moon dial has a galleon seascape alternating with a landscape scene. The arched painted dial has subsidiary seconds and calendar dials with anchor scenes and gilded scroll work in the four corners. The arch with the lunar calendar above and the two hemispheres painted with detailed worlds. The arched hood has swan neck
pediments finished with brass paterae .The hood front panel has line inlays and
a central pediment and the door is flanked by line inlaid pillars. Matching
pillars flank the shaped figured mahogany trunk door. The base section with a
double line inlay to the front panel with canted corners at each side and the
clock stands on a single moulded
plinth. The good
8-day movement has been cleaned, overhauled and
is in good working order with the fully revolving moon.The rack striking
