Maker born 1730 ,died 1815 A good George III oak and
mahogany-cased 8-day longcase clock with moon phase ,Wilson dial and striking
the hours on a bell. The 13-inch arched dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing a
subsidiary seconds dial, painted birds to the centre and terrestrial calendar
crescent. The corners are attractively painted with roses within a gilded border
, the arch having a lunar calendar with "rolling moon" painted with a
galleon and a bridge with ruins. The well proportioned oak and mahogany case
with crossbanding to the long shaped trunk door having a swan-neck pediment over
fluted columns with brass capitals, the trunk with conforming quadrant columns,
on a panelled canted base with bracket feet . The 8-day movement has been cleaned,polished and overhauled and is in good working order. Height 88.5in (225cm) including
